Our Work
A Strong Foundation for STEM Success
Our Statewide Strategy
MiSTEM works to connect learners with STEM education and the high-demand, high-wage careers of the future. We gather data and insights from communities across the state to determine STEM focus areas and funding opportunities. Through local leadership and partnerships, we connect learners to opportunities that foster learning and innovation.
These pillars drive MiSTEM’s work today.
Create a STEM Culture
Our work leads to this: a culture of STEM learning. We enable community engagement, experiential learning and 3P learning. We build capacity in our leaders, teachers and learners to create solutions to real-world problems.
Empower STEM Educators
By creating opportunities for professional development, capacity building and support, we work to empower STEM educators. We connect educators with community partnerships to enable unique STEM learning opportunities and engagement.
Integrate Business and Education
We bring STEM-savvy leaders together, establishing a common language and co-designing multidisciplinary real-world projects. As a result, we will provide authentic learning opportunities to help train a robust and diverse workforce.
Ensure High-Quality STEM Experiences
When STEM teachers are empowered to collaborate with their local community, youth will engage in place-based, hands-on, experiential, open-ended exploration. High-quality STEM experiences mean learners working together on rigorous math and science content where failure is seen as a necessary part of the learning process.
