Meet With Us

Schedule a phone, in-person or virtual appointment to speak with a Customer Service Agent. Select the date, time, and type of appointment you would like to schedule.

Virtual appointments utilizing voice to text closed captioning are available for customers who are deaf or hard of hearing.

For Employers: Office of Employer Ombudsman

Send a message or inquiry through MiWAM. From your account home page, click "I want to . . ." and then click "Send Unemployment a message."

Call the Office of Employer Ombudsman: 1-855-484-2636, Option 4, Monday - Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m

To Certify

Certify Online (Most efficient method): You can certify online through MiWAM any day during your certification week. 

  • On your MiWAM Unemployment Insurance Claim homepage, under Account Alerts click: “You have benefits weeks that have not been certified – click here to Certify”
  • Review the provided questions.

Certify by Phone: Call MARVIN at 1-866-638-3993 to certify for unemployment benefit payments on your designated day and time. Find the call schedule on our How to Certify for Benefits page.

Certification by phone is not available when UIA offices are closed for State holidays.

Advocacy Program

For both claimants and employers, the Advocacy Program offers no-cost assistance to those who request services for initial hearings with the Michigan Office of Administrative Hearings and Rules (MOAHR) and the Unemployment Insurance Appeals Commission (UIAC).

Protests and Appeals

The UIA reviews each claim to determine whether a worker qualifies for unemployment benefits.

If you disagree with the UIA, then you have the right to protest or appeal during the claim review process.
