Infrastructure and Digital Inclusion Funding Opportunities
Infrastructure and Digital Inclusion Funding Opportunities
The Michigan High-Speed Internet Office administers grant programs with the goal of creating a more digitally equitable state. MIHI is currently administering the following program:
Michigan’s Inclusive Training, Technology, and Equity Network (MITTEN)
MITTEN, or Michigan’s Inclusive Training, Technology, and Equity Network is the official name for the Michigan Digital Navigator Resource Network, as outlined in Michigan’s Digital Equity Plan. MITTEN will support digital inclusion and capacity building efforts for regional entities and collaboratives. This competitive grant funding will establish host sites for the Regional Digital Coordinators, who will be responsible for supporting implementation of the Michigan Digital Equity Plan with proposed project areas and supported covered populations. MITTEN is a competitive grant program with more than $13M in funds from the State Digital Equity Capacity Grant.
Broadband Equity, Access, and Deployment (BEAD) Program
BEAD is the largest single investment in closing the digital divide in the history of the country. BEAD will provide funding to ensure the universal availability of high-speed internet across the state and improve digital equity and inclusion.
Realizing Opportunity with Broadband Infrastructure Networks (ROBIN) Grant Program
ROBIN is a high-speed internet last mile and middle mile infrastructure competitive grant program with $238M in project funds from the US Treasury as part of the Coronavirus Capital Projects Fund. ROBIN provides funds to internet service providers and public-private partnerships for the expansion of broadband infrastructure to unserved areas.
