391.41(b)(4) Cardiac Conditions

Cardiac conditions would include a clinical diagnosis of myocardial infraction, angina pectoris, coronary insufficiency, thrombosis, or any other cardiovascular disease known to be accompanied by syncope, dyspnea, collapse, or congestive heart failure. Drivers with these conditions may be approved for a medical waiver provided at least one year has passed since the event causing disqualification and the treating physician's examination completed at least one year after the event indicates the driver is stable with a favorable outlook. The treating physician's professional medical opinion must also state the driver is otherwise qualified and could safely operate a commercial vehicle. This may be indicated on the form MC-028 or the physician may provide a statement in addition to the MC-028.
