MSP Crime Scene Response Team
The MSP Crime Scene Response Team (CSRT) is made up of specially trained laboratory personnel available 24/7 across Michigan. They document, collect and preserve evidence from crime scenes, responding to more than 200 major crime scenes each year.
Collected evidence is returned to the lab for testing, and reports are written to support investigations. Team members also testify in court and provide training in crime scene investigation. -
MSP Latent Prints Unit
The Latent Prints Unit in the Michigan State Police Forensic Science Division examines evidence for hidden fingerprints. They also analyze fingerprint lifts submitted by law enforcement agencies across Michigan. By identifying prints, examiners can connect a person to an object or location. These connections often provide strong evidence that can assist with investigations of a crime. -
