About JAG
The Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) program is the leading source of federal justice funding to state and local jurisdictions. The Byrne JAG program furthers DOJ’s mission to uphold the rule of law, to keep our country safe, and to protect civil rights. The Byrne JAG in Michigan provides grant awards to units of government for different program areas in criminal justice, including community relations, indigent defense, multijurisdictional drug task forces, priority population drug courts, and victim/social services.
Public Comment on FY26 Byrne JAG Program - State Solicitation
The Michigan State Police is seeking public comment on their proposal for the FY26 Byrne JAG program. Public comments can be submitted for 30 consecutive days after posting of this notice (posted on September 9, 2026). Please submit comments to MSP-CJGrants@michigan.gov.
