GIS Overview
Implemented in the year 2000, the Emergency Management and Homeland Security Division (EMHSD) GIS supports all phases of emergency management and homeland security at the state level, including real-time mapping and display in the State Emergency Operations Center (SEOC), data management for EMHSD mitigation projects, mapping and analysis of CBRNE events, and support for statewide planning. The system also supports mapping for Michigan's critical incident management system.
EMHSD leverages data through partnerships at the State, county, local and federal levels to provide the best available information to decision-makers in the SEOC, and collaborates with other agencies to develop and implement GIS projects of interest to the emergency management community.
For more information on GIS, please contact Ms. Brianna Briggs, Operations Management Section Manager.
