Emergency Operations Plan Suite of Resources
Emergency Operations Plan Suite of Resources
The Michigan State Police (MSP), Grants and Community Services Division, Office of School Safety (OSS) provides the following resources in support of K-12 schools seeking to develop or update their emergency operations plan (EOP). Michigan law (MCL - Section 380.1308b - Michigan Legislature) requires that an intermediate school district (ISD) or local education agency (LEA), both traditional public school districts and public school academies, develop with input from the public an EOP for each school building operated by an ISD or LEA. Further, a biennial review of the EOP must be completed in partnership with at least one law enforcement agency.
These resources are provided with support from Grant No. 2019-YS-BX-0089 awarded by the Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA). The BJA is a component of the Department of Justice Office of Justice Programs, which also includes the Bureau of Justice Statistics, The National Institute of Justice, the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention, the Office of Victims of Crime, and the SMART Office. Points of view or opinions in this document are those of the author and do not necessarily represent the official position or policies of the U.S. Department of Justice.
The OSS is grateful for the multi-disciplinary cadre of reviewers that provided feedback and recommendations for this project. Reviewers’ names and affiliations are included in the EOP Guidance.
