Seat Belts
Seat belts save lives!
Buckling up is the single most effective thing you can do to protect yourself in a crash. Seat belts are the best defense against impaired, aggressive, and distracted drivers. Being buckled up during a crash helps keep you safe and secure inside your vehicle.
MSU Seat Belt Usage Survey
Each year, Michigan State University (MSU) works with the Michigan Office of Highway Safety Planning to determine what the state’s seat belt and handheld mobile device (phones, tablets, cameras, handheld gaming devices, etc.) use figures are in passenger motor vehicles on Michigan roadways. To learn more about the survey results and how it is conducted, visit the MSU Seat Belt Survey page.
