MI Solar For All consumer advisory

The MI Solar for All (MISFA) program has yet to begin distributing any materials or promotional advertisements regarding solar incentives. If you come across any flyers or advertisements claiming to promote solar incentives purportedly from the MI Solar for All program, please be aware that they did not originate from our office.

MI Solar for All does not have a list of approved contractors at this time. Consumers are encouraged to exercise caution when approached by entities or individuals selling solar systems or other related equipment. Here are some important tips:

⚠️   Review terms carefully: Always read and understand the terms of any solar offer before making a decision.
⚠️   Obtain multiple quotes: Seek quotes from different providers to ensure you’re getting a fair and competitive price.
⚠️   Protect your personal information: Avoid sharing sensitive personal or financial information with unknown third parties.

The Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE) has been contacted by individuals who were told they could receive “free solar.”  EGLE’s Office of Climate and Energy and the MISFA program are not aware of any Michigan or federal programs that provide for solar installation at no cost.  If such programs were to arise, they likely would have specific eligibility criteria.

If you encounter suspicious or deceptive marketing practices related to solar products or services, please report these incidents to the Michigan Attorney General's Office. Stay informed and protect your rights as a consumer.
