Water well contractor registration

EGLE's Source Water Unit conducts annual registration of water well drilling contractors, dewatering contractors, limited well drilling contractors, pump installers, and well drilling rigs in accordance with Part 127, 1978 PA 368, MCL 333.12701 to 333.12715 and Administrative Rules in the Michigan Water Well Construction and Pump Installation Code.

By law, all registrations expire on April 30th and renewal applications must be submitted by March 1st. Contractors which fail to renew their registration by May 1st cannot conduct any well drilling or pump installation activities until such time their registration is renewed.

NGWA offers a certification program for contractors and pump installers. Eligible candidates will need to take and pass the Master Ground Water Contractor exam.
