Closure and Corrective Action

The Materials Management Division (MMD) has developed the following Fact Sheets and Brochures to help facilities comply with Michigan waste management requirements. These documents are guidance only; for regulatory requirements, please contact the appropriate agency or agencies, as specified in each Fact Sheet or Brochure.  The following documents are in Adobe Acrobat Portable Document Format (.pdf files).  These files require the Adobe Acrobat Reader program which can be downloaded free from Adobe.

On November 3, 2000, a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed by the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy which establishes EPA Region 5's recognition of Michigan's voluntary cleanup and property redevelopment efforts for facilities regulated under the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act corrective action program.

For sampling strategies and statistical information when performing corrective action at RCRA facilities, see the EGLE Sampling Strategies and Statistics Training Materials for Part 201 Cleanup Criteria.  This document supersedes the Verification of Soils Remediation (VSR, Revision 1 - April 1994).  The VSR is available for reference and for use where a previously approved work plan specifies the use of the VSR.
