NFIP Map Modernization Map Adoption
The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), EGLE, and various county floodplain managers have been participating in FEMA's National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) Map Modernization Initiative. For more information about this Initiative, check our Map Modernization page.
As the modernizing of a county's flood insurance maps nears completion, communities within the county are sent a Map Modernization Map Adoption Information Letter, which provides information needed to help them with the process of adopting the new floodplain maps. The Information Letter cites several model documents designed for community use in satisfying the map adoption process. These model documents are provided below in three formats. Communities may use whichever format fits their needs.
Model Documents
- State Construction Code Ordinance for Floodplain Management Provisions
- Community Resolution to Manage Floodplain Development for the NFIP
- Community Resolution and Intergovernmental Agreement to Manage Floodplain Development for the NFIP
- FEMA-NFIP Community Application pdf
