How do I know if my facility is required to have industrial an industrial storm water permit?
Determining if your facility is required to have an industrial storm water permit will depend on if the facility's primary industrial activity is regulated, if there is a storm water discharge to surface waters of the state through a point source, and if there are industrial materials and/or activities exposed to precipitation. EGLE has a guidance document on determining if your facility is required to obtain permit coverage, which will help walk you through making this determination.

Is my marina required to have an industrial storm water permit and what are the requirements?
Marinas that are involved in boat maintenance activities (including boat rehabilitation, mechanical repairs, boat or equipment washing, painting, fluid changes, winterization, fueling and lubrication) and discharge storm water to surface waters of the state are regulated by the storm water regulations. In addition, Marinas that discharge wastewater to the surface waters of the state are required to obtain a National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System permit. EGLE has a guidance document for marinas that will help you determine if and what type of permit coverage is needed along with the necessary requirements.
