Environmental Investigation Section staffers take polar plunge for Special Olympics raising $8K

Staffers in the Environmental Investigation Section (EIS), a joint effort between the Michigan departments of Environment, Great Lakes (EGLE), and Energy and Natural Resources (DNR), have become experts in “cold cases” since they’ve taken the “polar plunge” into an icy pool of water to raise funds for Special Olympics.

All EIS Officers participated in the Mt. Pleasant event for the third time, this year raising approximately $8,000 for the charity that provides sports training and competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, says Vence Woods, a first lieutenant with EIS. The group won “most funds raised by law enforcement” for the third year in a row! Each year, they have raised more funds.

EIS was a sponsor of this year’s event, with its badge and design included on the t-shirts and banners.
