"To change everything, we need everyone"
The state of Michigan’s first statewide climate conference took place at the Huntington Place in Detroit on April 11 and 12, 2023. The two-day conference brought together nearly 600 stakeholders from across the state and nation to help implement key actions in the MI Healthy Climate Plan. The conference theme was, "To change everything, we need everyone," and featured presentations, workshops and remarks from state officials, business leaders, advocates, tribal nations, academia, organized labor and more.
Attendees were welcomed by Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan and heard from thought leaders and experts on how Michigan can seize the opportunity to create a healthier, more just, and carbon-neutral Michigan. Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer gave the keynote address, focusing on themes of protecting Michiganders from the most significant impacts of climate change while seizing the economic opportunities of a clean energy transition.
