Course Description:
This course is designed to provide Michigan employers with a basic understanding of the requirements they will need to meet in order to protect their employees and eliminate laser safety and health hazards. This class will review the safety and health hazards commonly associated with industrial laser applications and usage, classifications, nominal hazard zones, laser officer responsibilities, training and guarding, MIOSHA compliance requirements, and other applicable consensus standards.
Participants will:
- Identify basic operation and major uses of lasers.
- Identify laser classifications amd associated hazards.
- Review application of MIOSHA and voluntary standards.
- Describe the responsibilities of the Laser Safety Officer (LSO).
- Discuss laser safety training specifics.
