Funding for 10 Cents a Meal is included in the Fiscal Year 2027 State School Aid budget; however, administrative funding was not included. Emergency private funding will be needed to operate the program. In addition, non-school sponsors are ineligible for funding in 2027. This means that sponsors such as childcare centers and homes, before and after school providers, and community service agencies will not be able to participate.
Michigan Department of Education will share further updates on the program and the 2027 application as soon as possible. Eligible sponsors interested in applying are encouraged to view the application walkthrough linked below.
