Educator Retention Supports
A focus of the Michigan's Top 10 Strategic Education Plan is ensuring that all students have equitable access to well-prepared, fully-certified teachers. Implementing teacher supports, such as quality professional learning, mentoring and induction, efficacious educator evaluation practices, recognition programs, and other policies increase teacher retention and offer one way to alleviate shortages. Each district may have supports in place in compliance with state or district legislation. However, these supports can be strengthened by making these supports more comprehensive, personalized, and of higher quality.
