Comprehensive Support and Improvement (CSI)
- Description: Schools among the lowest performing 5% statewide OR high schools with a 4-year graduation rate of 67% or less. Please see the Comprehensive Support and Improvement (CSI) Overview) document for more information on how schools are identified for CSI.
- Frequency of Identification: Every 3 Years

Using Evidence to Strengthen Education Investments
Using, generating, and sharing evidence about effective strategies to support students gives stakeholders an important tool to accelerate student learning. ESEA emphasizes the use of evidence-based activities, strategies, and interventions (collectively referred to as “interventions”).
What professional learning and technical assistance is available to schools identified for support?

Early Warning Intervention and Monitoring System (EWIMS)
EWIMS is a data-driven, decision-making process that helps educators systematically identify students at risk of dropping out, examine the underlying causes, match needs to interventions, and then monitor progress and the success. Information on EWIMS can be found on the MDE's EWIMS webpage (www.mi.gov/mde-ewims).
Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS)
A comprehensive framework of research-based strategies designed to meet the individual needs and assets of the whole child. Information on MTSS can be found on the MDE'S MiMTSS webpage (www.michigan.gov/mtss).
Regional Assistance Grant (RAG)
Regional Assistance Grants (RAG) are awarded to Intermediate School Districts with schools designated as CSI in their constituent local school districts to support their school improvement programs and initiatives.
