Where can I view School Index reports?

School Index reports can be viewed on MI School Data at: www.mischooldata.org/school-index/. Note: You must login in to view reports in preview.

What are CSI, ATS, and TSI school support categories?

Michigan's Approved ESSA State Plan organizes schools identified for supports into three groups as described in each of the tabs below. Click the CSI, ATS, or TSI tabs to learn more about each category, find lists of identified schools, and information on supports and MDE offices assisting these respective schools.

Comprehensive Support and Improvement (CSI)

  • Description: Schools among the lowest performing 5% statewide OR high schools with a 4-year graduation rate of 67% or less. Please see the Comprehensive Support and Improvement (CSI) Overview) document for more information on how schools are identified for CSI.
  • Frequency of Identification: Every 3 Years
  • Most Recent Identification Year: 2021-22
  • School Identification List: 2021-22 CSI Identifications

Additional Targeted Support (ATS)

  • Description: Schools with one or more student groups with a subgroup index value at or below the lowest performing 5% of schools. Please see the Additional Targeted Support (ATS) Overview document for more information on how schools are identified for ATS.
  • Frequency of Identification: Every 6 Years (please see the ATS Overview document for additional clarification on identification frequency)
  • Most Recent Year of Identification: 2021-22
  • School Identification List: 2021-22 ATS Identifications

Targeted Support and Improvement (TSI)

  • Description: Schools with one or more student groups performing in the bottom 25% within applicable School Index components. Please see the Targeted Support and Improvement (TSI) Overview document for more information on how schools are identified for TSI.
  • Frequency of Identification: Annual
  • Most Recent Year of Identification: 2021-22
  • School Identification List: 2021-22 TSI Identifications

What resources are available to support Identified Schools?

ewims

Early Warning Intervention and Monitoring System (EWIMS)

EWIMS is a data-driven, decision-making process that helps educators systematically identify students at risk of dropping out, examine the underlying causes, match needs to interventions, and then monitor progress and the success. Information on EWIMS can be found on the MDE's EWIMS webpage (www.mi.gov/mde-ewims).

Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS)

A comprehensive framework of research-based strategies designed to meet the individual needs and assets of the whole child. Information on MTSS can be found on the MDE'S MiMTSS webpage (www.michigan.gov/mtss).

Region

Regional Assistance Grant (RAG)

Regional Assistance Grants (RAG) are awarded to Intermediate School Districts with schools designated as CSI in their constituent local school districts to support their school improvement programs and initiatives. MI Systems Support

The MI Systems Support provides free technical assistance and professional learning through the Statewide Field Team (SWFT) to districts with schools identified for Comprehensive Support and Improvement (CSI), Targeted Support and Improvement (TSI), and Additional Targeted Support and Improvement (ATS). These services are funded through the Title I Technical Assistance Grant. Information can be found on the MI Systems Support webpage (www.misystemsupport.com).

Important Reminders

  • Remember to keep your school and district directory and contact information in Educational Entity Master (EEM) up to date! MDE uses contact information from the EEM (www.mi.gov/eem) to send important communications to your school and district leaders, among other specific contact types in the EEM.
