The Air Quality Division’s Permit Section reviews hundreds of air permit applications each year. The process for reviewing these applications has steps needed to ensure permits contain all the necessary technical reviews, requirements, and rules and are legally enforceable.
Overview
The goal of our permit process is to meet the needs of a modern, fast-paced economy while preserving or improving environmental protection. The process provides:
- A review process that is efficient, concise, and transparent.
- Maximum environmental protection and manufacturing flexibility.
- Opportunities for face-to-face meetings so requirements are communicated at the start and throughout the permitting process.
- Eliminates repetitive work and waiting in the permitting process by ensuring that requirements, issues, and goals are identified and clearly communicated prior to application submittal and/or initiating engineering review.
- Compliance with all state and federal requirements.
- Result in an average time required for review of air permit applications of less than six calendar months.
- Achievable, demonstrable, and value-added permit conditions.
- Opportunities for increased and enhanced public involvement.
