Small Systems Session 2 - Well Approval Process for Community and Noncommunity Water Supplies
The Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy has developed this virtual training for operators and owners of small, privately-owned public drinking water supplies across the state. Topics include general plans and reliability studies; well approval process for community and noncommunity water supplies; technical, managerial, and financial capacity and resources for water supplies; standard operation procedures; campground, seasonal start-ups; and other issues relative to small drinking water supplies.
Part of the Small Systems Water Operator Training Series. This course is comprised of 5 sessions held August 5 - August 14, 2025.
Registration Fee: $45 includes all 5 sessions.
Continuing Education: Each session provides 0.1 CECs for up to 0.5 CECs in the technical category.

Session 2 - Well Approval Process for Community and Noncommunity Water Supplies
This training will focus on providing small system water operators and owners with an overview of the current well approval process for community and noncommunity water systems.
Session 2 of this series will include:
- Community water supply well approval process overview (submittals for test wells, adverse resource impact pre-screening assessment, well site inspection, test well approval, aquifer test, permitting, commencement of operation) (30 mins)
- Noncommunity water supply well approval process overview (working with different local health departments, well site inspection, peak demand calculations, final approval process) (30 mins)
- Q&A Session (15 min)
