The Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy has developed this virtual training for operators and owners of small, privately-owned public drinking water supplies across the state. Topics include general plans and reliability studies; well approval process for community and noncommunity water supplies; technical, managerial, and financial capacity and resources for water supplies; standard operation procedures; campground, seasonal start-ups; and other issues relative to small drinking water supplies.

Part of the Small Systems Water Operator Training Series. This course is comprised of 5 sessions held August 5 -  August 14, 2025.

Registration Fee: $45 includes all 5 sessions. 

Continuing Education:  Each session provides 0.1 CECs for up to 0.5 CECs in the technical category.

Registration / cancellation deadline:  August 1, 2025

Cancellation policy: Cancellations must be made by August 1, 2025, and the registration fee will be refunded. Cancellations will not be accepted after August 1. Registrants who do not attend the live webinar will receive a link to the recording.

Session 3 - Technical, Managerial, and Financial Capacity and Available Resources for Water Supplies

This training will focus on providing small system water operators and owners with information on technical, managerial, and financial capacity and available free resources to maintain compliance with the Safe Drinking Water Act.

Session 3 of this series will include:

  • Overview of capacity development and what TMF (technical, managerial, and financial) means (15 minutes)
  • Overview of available technical assistance providers and resources (15 minutes)
  • Potential solutions for TMF deficiencies and case studies (30 minutes)
  • Q&A Session (15 min)
