The overall project will restore a historically designated block through the renovation of seven buildings, creation of pocket parks and outdoor gathering space, community amenities and quality finishes. Funding is in place for the six residential buildings onsite. The community center makes up the seventh building and is partially funded.
Funding towards the proposed capital expenditures for the community center will move the project towards construction start. The proposed project scope includes updated infrastructure and eco-friendly systems that raise air quality, enhanced fiberoptics to create equitable access to internet, and creation of outdoor patio space. Several capital improvements are necessary to restore the building. Notable improvements include:
- Plumbing - The building is currently vacant and plumbing systems will need to be enhanced and replaced.
- Electrical - The current electrical system is not capable of supporting today’s electrical needs and will need to be replaced. HVAC systems with centralized air will be added to the facility.
- Roofing – While the roofing has been patched as a temporary solution, the roof is past its useful life.
- HVAC – All systems will be replaced.
- The building envelope requires improvements to tuckpointing, windows, doors, and overall sealing.
