The capital project involves a comprehensive refurbishment of the Community Center to make it more functional, accessible, and conducive for diverse activities and programs.
Details and Features:
- Masonry Work: The exterior brick of the building will be repaired, which includes tuck pointing of necessary mortar joints and patching brick on the north side.
- Electrical Package: The project will repurpose existing electrical panels and will include 25 outlets for the entire building, 40 light fixtures installed in the drop ceiling panels, and 6 large ceiling fans. Additionally, other light fixtures will be handpicked by the owner and installed by the electrician.
- Wood Flooring: Existing wood floors will be sanded and refinished. The project also includes repairing any bad or missing spots in the floor.
- Interior Wall: Wainscoting will be removed, and a 2×4 wall will be framed in, 5' high around the entire main hall. This will feature fiberglass insulation, drywall, and paint.
- Mechanical Work: Ductwork will be revamped, utilizing the current system. A new trunk line, providing even heating throughout the hall, will be added below the ceiling.
- Ceiling Work: A new drop ceiling grid will be established 18" to 24" below the existing ceiling, accompanied by new 2x4 standard acoustical ceiling tiles.
- Kitchen Entry Deck: A new 12' × 8' deck will be constructed with treated materials, featuring a set of 5' wide steps and railing.
- Exterior Doors: Four existing hollow metal exterior doors and their frames will be replaced. These doors will be equipped with closures and lever locksets.
- Plumbing: The project includes the removal and repositioning of three-bathroom toilets for tile work.
- Exterior Wood Trim Repairs: Damaged wood fascia and rafter tails around the building will be replaced.
- Gutter Work: New aluminum gutters and downspouts will be fitted on specific sides of the building.
- Stage Drywall: The stage ceiling will be revamped with new drywall, which will then be primed and painted.
- Interior Trim & Doors: Interior doors will be replaced with solid core flush doors. The project also covers the installation of painted pine trims, closet shelving, and door hardware.
- Kitchen Work: Existing cabinets will be removed and replaced with new countertops. Specific sections will have their countertops replaced to ensure uniformity.
- Painting: The interior walls of specific sections of the center, including the hall, kitchen, and entry, will be painted. Exterior fascia, soffits, and specific windows will also be painted.
- Flooring: The project includes the removal of existing flooring in certain areas and the installation of new tile floors. The kitchen floor will also undergo repairs and repainting.
In culmination, this capital project is a collective effort to rejuvenate the Community Center, turning it into a state-of-the-art facility for residents. It has been designed in conjunction with experts in various domains, ensuring that the center remains a testament to the community's aspirations for a functional, inclusive, and modern space.
