Bart Pickelman was appointed Director of the Michigan Occupational Safety and Health Administration (MIOSHA) on October 5, 2016. Bart began his MIOSHA career as a compliance officer and also served as Ergonomic Specialist, Safety and Health Manager, and MIOSHA Deputy Director. The MIOSHA program is committed to reducing fatalities, injuries and illnesses and ensuring a safe and healthy workplace for all employees. As Director, he oversees all aspects of the MIOSHA program, which includes occupational safety and health compliance in general industry and construction, and the outreach activities of the Consultation Education and Training Division. The MIOSHA program also includes the Radiation Safety Section that is responsible for the registration of over 29,000 x-ray machines. Mr. Pickelman is a Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) with close to 30 years of experience in occupational safety and health in both the private and public sectors. Bart has demonstrated strong leadership through his administration of the MIOSHA program and its more than 200 employees. Bart has a true passion for the MIOSHA mission of helping protect the safety and health of Michigan workers. |
