Adult Education
The Michigan Department of Education (MDE) has oversight of K-12 education programs and special education funded programs for students through age 26.
Oversight of programs serving learners outside K-12 education generally occurs through the Michigan Workforce Development Agency (e.g., adult education, General Education Development (GED), Adult Basic Education (ABE).
Adult education programs are supported by the Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity. Refer to program information established by that agency for more information. MDE manages and supports certification requirements for PK-12 programming only.
