Water Quality and Pollution Control in Michigan Sections 303(d), 305(b), and 314 Integrated Report
The Clean Water Act (CWA) requires Michigan to prepare a biennial report on the quality of its water resources as the principal means of conveying water quality protection/monitoring information to the United States Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) and the United States Congress.
The Integrated Report satisfies the listing requirements of Section 303(d) and the reporting requirements of Section 305(b) and 314 of the CWA. The Section 303(d) list includes Michigan water bodies that are not attaining one or more designated use and require the establishment of Total Maximum Daily Loads (TMDLs) to meet and maintain Water Quality Standards.
Draft 2026 Integrated Report
The Water Resources Division (WRD) is accepting written comments between June 12 and July 13, 2026, on the draft Water Quality and Pollution Control in Michigan, 2026 Sections 303(d), 305(b), and 314 Integrated Report. The Integrated Report describes the status of water quality in Michigan and includes a list of water bodies that are not attaining Michigan Water Quality Standards and require the establishment of pollutant Total Maximum Daily Loads (TMDL).
Changes to Assessment Methods for this 2026 cycle can be found in Section 3.14, and brief assessment summaries by water body type can be found in Chapters 4-7. The draft 2026 Integrated Report and associated appendices are available below.
Written comments regarding the draft 2026 Integrated Report may be submitted by July 13, 2026, to Kevin Goodwin at GoodwinK@Michigan.gov or Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy, WRD, P.O. Box 30458, Lansing, Michigan 48909-7958. (Information Contact: 517-290-4198)
