Dam Risk Reduction Grant Program (DRRGP)
Under Section 1003 of 2021 PA 87, the Michigan Legislature appropriated $13 million to EGLE establish a Dam Risk Reduction Program to provide grant funds to dam owners for repair, alteration, or removal activities necessary to address risk associated with publicly or privately owned dams. Additionally, under section 309 of 2022 PA 53, another $43.2 million was appropriated to EGLE for the program.
The Dam Risk Reduction Grant Program (DRRGP) is designed to address the following goals:
- Reduce or eliminate risk associated with dams.
- Ensure regulated dams are in compliance with Part 315, Dam Safety and Part 307, Inland Lake Levels.
- Develop strong relationships with private dam owners or operators and provide resources as needed.
- Protect environmental and human health threatened by aging dam infrastructure.
Recipients for the 2024-2025 grant cycle have been selected.
