2025 MI Healthy Climate Conference
Nearly 1,000 people from all over Michigan and beyond attended the 2025 MI Healthy Climate Conference, hosted by the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE) on April 22-23, 2025 at the Huntington Place in Detroit. The conference drew 919 attendees from Michigan and 19 other states plus the District of Columbia, representing local, state, and tribal governments; universities; nonprofits; community groups; faith communities; businesses; and more – over 400 organizations in all. Under the theme "Road to 2030," speakers shared about their success stories, challenges, funding opportunities, technical assistance, and other actions they are taking in the six priority areas of the MI Healthy Climate Plan to reach our interim 2030 goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 50-52% from 2005 baselines in an equitable manner.
- Lieutenant Governor Garlin Gilchrist II launched the start of the conference on Tuesday, April 22, with the announcement of the MI Healthy Climate Challenge.
- Governor Gretchen Whitmer addressed the conference on Wednesday, April 23, emphasizing Michigan’s continued commitment to the MI Healthy Climate Plan and announcing the statewide launch of the Michigan Home Energy Rebates Program.
