Pedestrian and Bicycle Safety
Pedestrian and Bicycle Safety Action Team
The Pedestrian and Bicyclist Safety Action Team (PBSAT) was established under the Governor’s Traffic Safety Advisory Commission (GTSAC) to strengthen Michigan’s coordinated approach to non‑motorized roadway safety. Meeting quarterly, PBSAT brings together a broad network of partners—including state and local agencies, planning organizations, law enforcement, engineering and infrastructure experts, public health professionals, and community advocates—to examine trends, share data, and identify strategies that reduce pedestrian and bicyclist injuries and fatalities. Through collaborative problem‑solving and targeted action planning, the team works to advance education, enforcement, engineering, and outreach initiatives that support safer, more accessible environments for people walking, biking, and using other forms of active transportation across Michigan.
