2026 Cheboygan Lock and Dam Complex

The State Emergency Operations Center (SEOC) was activated on Friday, April 10, 2026, along with Governor Gretchen Whitmer declaring a state of emergency due to rising water levels at the Cheboygan Lock and Dam Complex.

Record snowfall and rain elevated water levels, which lead to possible flooding for local communities. State officials closely monitored water levels, and developed a comprehensive plan to protect Michiganders and property.

The SEOC was deactivated on Friday, May 8, 2026, for the statewide severe flooding and Cheboygan Lock and Dam Complex.
