Michigan's AmeriCorps Site Supervisor of the Month
Site Supervisor of the Month – November 2025: Amy Boxey, AdviseMI
Amy Boxey is the AmeriCorps site supervisor for the AdviseMI College Advisers who serve at Meridian Schools. AdviseMI is an AmeriCorps program administered by the Michigan College Access Network (MCAN) that places recent college graduates in selected high schools across Michigan to support students as they make the transition from high school to postsecondary education. Many of these high schools are located in communities with low college-going and adult educational attainment rates.
Boxey is an accomplished educator and dedicated leader in the field of student development, currently serving as the Dean of Students at Meridian Early College High School. With a strong academic background from both Central Michigan University and Michigan State University, Amy has been teaching science since 1994, bringing a wealth of knowledge and experience to her roles.
In her position, Amy plays a pivotal role in student scheduling, onboarding students into dual enrollment programs, and guiding postsecondary planning. She is committed to connecting students with Career and Technical Education opportunities and actively seeks to expand partnerships that enhance student support. As the advisor for the National Honor Society, she serves as a trusted role model and mentor, providing encouragement and support to both students and staff.
Amy has been a site supervisor for AdviseMI for many years, demonstrating a deep understanding of the AmeriCorps mission to improve lives, strengthen communities, and foster civic engagement through service. Her dedication to this mission is evident in her professional and personal life, as she consistently embodies the values of service and community support.
Colleagues and AmeriCorps members, such as Skylyr Zink, commend Amy for her responsiveness, open communication, and unwavering support. According to Zink, “Amy is fantastic with communication, never leaving me with questions unanswered or without the proper methods and resources to conduct my service,” Zink continues, “Amy is great at allowing me to partake in service-related professional development, as well as even
contributing to—through feedback and advice— my growing career.” Boxey fosters an environment where individuals feel comfortable seeking assistance and encourages professional development, contributing to the growth of those around her. Her leadership, calm demeanor, and extensive knowledge of educational systems create a nurturing atmosphere that promotes achievement and personal growth.
Boxey's commitment to her students and community exemplifies the spirit of service, making her a vital asset to Meridian Early College High School and the broader educational landscape.
