  • 2020 Michigan's AmeriCorps Member Celebration

    More than 600 Michigan's AmeriCorps State, VISTA, and National members came together virtually on November 19, 2020 for a day of training, networking, and recognition. The event, hosted by the Michigan Community Service Commission, helped prepare AmeriCorps members for their year of service and celebrated the courage of their commitment.

  • Funds Available For New and Recompeting Michigan's AmeriCorps Programs

    Federal funds are available to support new and recompeting Michigan's AmeriCorps programs to start in the fall of 2021 for a 12-month program cycle.

  • MI AmeriCorps Member of the Month - April 2021: Userkaf, Carroll - AMUS Michigan's AmeriCorps Member of the Month

    APRIL 2021: The AmeriCorps Urban Safety (AMUS) Program takes a cross-generational approach to increasing public safety in neighborhoods throughout Detroit. With members ranging in age from 17 to 80 years old, the program clearly demonstrates that a dedicated group of people from diverse backgrounds can make a positive impact at any age! Two members, Bin Userkaf and Ethelyn Carroll, are both excellent examples of how AMUS members from each end of the generation spectrum can shine as role models through their service. 

  • MI AmeriCorps Site Supervisor of the Month - April 2021: Jackie DeMull, Cherry Health Michigan's AmeriCorps Site Supervisor of the Month

    APRIL 2021: As the Women's Health Program Coordinator at Cherry Health, Jackie DeMull's work focuses on increasing access to breast health screenings and diagnostic mammograms for underserved populations. In partnership with Spectrum Health, the Women's Health Program provides free mammograms through the Betty Ford Breast Care Services Mobile Mammogram Unit, which visits the Heart of the City Health Center weekly and the Montcalm Area Health Center monthly. Jackie shares her passion for cancer prevention and women's health care with the two Cherry Health AmeriCorps members that she supervises. 

  • MI AmeriCorps Site Supervisor of the Month - April 2021: Holly Wolfe, AdviseMI Michigan's AmeriCorps Site Supervisor of the Month

    APRIL 2021: As the school counselor for Holton High School, Holly Wolfe works hard to ensure that all students are on a path to success. In addition to her many responsibilities, Holly also serves as a site supervisor for the AmeriCorps College Advisor that is stationed at Holton High School to support students as they make the transition from high school to postsecondary education. Holly is a true champion of the AdviseMI/MSU College Advising Corps program.

  • MI AmeriCorps Alum Spotlight - April 2021: Gabby Wahla, MSU College Advising Corps Michigan's AmeriCorps Alum Spotlight

    APRIL 2021: Serving as an AmeriCorps member with the Michigan State University College Advising Corps provided Gabby Wahla an opportunity to serve her community, build leadership skills, form lifelong friendships, and identify a career path she wanted to pursue. "I look back on my service with so much love and appreciation for the experience and those I came to know during my two years," Gabby reflected.
