State School Aid Act- Sections 31a, 31d, and 31f - (Admin Memo #5 SY22)
School districts received the Fiscal Year (FY) 2022 Prior-year Adjustment 31d State Supplemental Lunch payment in the May 2023 State Aid payment. The amounts are estimated when paid during the current year and are reconciled to actual amounts the following spring. It is originally paid as an allowance, then corrected as an adjustment to the prior year. Payments this year were prorated due to appropriation limits. If an appropriation increase is approved, the additional appropriation will be paid to sponsors.
Some districts have negative adjustments to their 31d payments because of fewer meals served and a decrease in total expenditures in SY 2021-2022 over the prior school year.
