Language Milestones

All children who are deaf or hard of hearing (DHH) can acquire language!

The Michigan Language Milestones for DHH can help you know what to expect as your child grows and develops, and when to seek guidance from your early interventionist or teacher. These documents are not meant to be screening tools or assessments, but they can be used to monitor and track your child’s language development. Every child is different, so they may reach these milestones at different times. That is okay! If you do have any concerns about your child’s progress, reach out to your local educational team.
