Financial Independence Team (FIT)
The Financial Independence Team (FIT) is a cross-Department collaboration between the Michigan Department of Education (MDE) (the Office of Educational Supports (OES) and the Office of Financial Management) and the Michigan Department of Treasury. The FIT is focused on proactively supporting Local Educational Agencies (LEAs), Public School Academies (PSAs), and Intermediate School Districts (ISDs)/Regional Educational Service Agencies (RESAs) – categorically referred to as Entities – identified for financial and educational supports.
The MDE’s Education Consultants work with Entity and school leaders by offering targeted technical assistance to support successful implementation of the Entity’s educational vision. Education Consultants are committed to working collaboratively with Entity leadership in increasing capacity to identify, align, and maximize the impact of all available resources for achieving the identified Whole Child and academic goals itemized in the continuous improvement plan. Please call 517-241-5388 for more information.
