Petro Chem Processing Group of Nortru LLC Detroit

Petro-Chem Processing Group of Nortru, LLC (Petro-Chem), operates a hazardous waste storage and treatment facility located at 421 Lycaste Street, in Detroit, Michigan. 

Petro-Chem is licensed to store and treat hazardous waste that exhibits the characteristics of ignitability, corrosivity, reactivity, and toxicity, and listed hazardous waste.  The current license authorizes:

  • Storage and commingling of hazardous waste in containers in ten areas. 
  • Storage and treatment hazardous waste in four tanks.
  • Several loading/unloading areas.
  • Hazardous waste fuel blending.

Petro-Chem also stores hazardous waste pharmaceuticals.  Petro-Chem’s pharmaceutical storage activities are not part of the hazardous waste license because they are authorized separately under the hazardous waste rules.

Public meeting

On May 13, 2026, EGLE will hold a virtual public information meeting regarding Petro-Chem’s Hazardous Waste Management Facility license renewal application at 6:00 p.m.  To attend the online public information meeting, register.  After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting.  If you do not have internet access and would like to join by PHONE ONLY, please use the following phone number: 855-758-1310 and use conference code 852 6789 4885#.  Pre-registration is not required to attend.  Individuals interested in participating can click the link above at the start of the event.
