The data in the AQD point source inventory is representative of the data submitted to the AQD by the regulated community. The data is collected to inform strategy development efforts. The data collected is subject to only limited auditing and quality assurance efforts by EGLE to identify, verify, and address outlier data. Depending on the use of the data, additional quality assurance may be warranted to verify the reasonableness of the emissions estimates.
The Air Quality Division (AQD) collected emissions data from the regulated community and maintained the data in the Michigan Air Pollution Reporting System (MAPRS) for years 1990 through 1997. The data in MAPRS format and support documentation such as the data dictionary, is available in a zipped Microsoft Access database by submitting a FOIA request to the EGLE FOIA Coordinator.
The AQD used the Michigan Air Emissions Reporting System (MAERS) for the collection, compilation, and maintenance of the data for years 1998 through 2007. For submittal to the United States Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA), the data was exported into a Microsoft Access database in the USEPA National Emissions Format (NIF) 3.0. The data in NIF 3.0 is available by submitting a FOIA request to the EGLE FOIA Coordinator. A file with support documentation such as the NIF codes and data formats is available for download in a zipped format.
The AQD used the MAERS application to collect and compile emissions data for years 2008 - 2021. The data in MAERS was exported into the USEPA’s Bridge Tool (a Microsoft Access database) which was then used to generate a data file in XML format for submittal to USEPA. MAERS Submittals to USEPA
The AQD uses the SLEIS (State & Local Emissions Inventory System) application to collect and maintain emission data from 2022 through present day. Data in SLEIS is exported directly from the system to USEPA’s emissions inventory system (EIS). The XMLs from SLEIS have been imported into the EPA’s EIS Bridge Tool format and can be downloaded and unzipped for viewing.
