Wyandotte funding and investments

EGLE has granted the city of Wyandotte up to $674,490 to support a pilot study, engineering design, and installation of granular activated carbon (GAC) at the Wyandotte Water Treatment Plant. This project will replace the plant’s existing filter media with specialized GAC designed to reduce PFAS and other organic contaminants that could enter the city’s water intake in the future.

To ensure proper design of the filtration system, EGLE required a long-term pilot study which is expected to be completed in late 2026. Design and construction activity can start following the pilot study.
