Funding Opportunities
EGLE has State and Federal funding available for various energy related projects, such as energy efficiency upgrades and renewable energy installations (non-residential), clean technology development, EV charger installations, as well as funding for research and reports. Applications and Requests for Proposals (RFP) are available throughout the year.

Renewables Ready Communities Award
The Renewables Ready Communities Award is a $30,000,000 program designed to reward municipal renewable energy adopters in the state. This program will provide up to $5,000 per megawatt (MW) to eligible Michigan municipalities for an eligible renewable energy project that they will physically host and/or perform local permitting.
Community Energy Management Program
The Community Energy Management (CEM) Program offers financial incentives directly to communities to improve energy management and accelerate the transition to energy efficiency and renewable energy.
Agriculture and Rural Businesses Energy Incentive Program
The Agriculture and Rural Businesses Energy Incentive Program offers financial incentives to farms, agribusinesses, and rural small businesses for energy related implementation projects, recommended from energy audits and assessments.
Small Manufacturers Retooling
The Small Manufacturers Retooling offers matching grants to small manufacturers located in Michigan to implement energy efficiency and retooling activities.
Building Operator Training
Efficient buildings are only efficient when managed to utilize the systems appropriately. This program will select a nationally recognized, award winning, training program that offers facilities personnel the knowledge and skills to succeed in their careers.
Grid Resiliency
Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL) Preventing Outages and Enhancing the Resilience of the Electric Grid Grants. This program is intended to provide funding to eligible entities to carry out activities that are supplemental to existing hardening efforts and reduce the risk of power lines causing a wildfire; or reduce the likelihood and consequences of disruptive events.
Sponsorship Program
The Sponsorship Program offers financial assistance for workshops, trainings, conferences, or other events that increase awareness of energy efficiency, renewable energy and sustainability technologies, applications, opportunities, and best practices in Michigan.
Charge Up Michigan Program
The Charge Up Michigan Program is an EV Charger Placement project that aims to build the infrastructure for DC fast charging stations in the state of Michigan to ensure feasibility of all long distance trips for electric vehicle (EV) users, within the state, and also to neighboring states and Canada.
Lake Michigan Circuit
The Lake Michigan Circuit is a multi-state initiative to build electric vehicle infrastructure along Lake Michigan to support coastal tourism.
Clean Energy Workforce Development
EGLE is offering financial assistance to support education and training for the clean energy workforce.
Clean Fuel and Charging Infrastructure Program
On July 24, 2024, Governor Gretchen Whitmer approved a $30 million one-time appropriation to support clean fuel and charging infrastructure projects. The funding will be used to provide grants for deploying electric vehicle (EV) charging stations and hydrogen fueling infrastructure, with at least 40% of the funds allocated to disadvantaged communities.
MI Solar Access
The MI Solar Access Program will support households move toward energy self-sufficiency and climate resiliency by assisting them with reducing their electricity usage, energy burden, climate preparedness, and access to renewable energy.
Water Energy Nexus
To promote energy efficiency and renewable energy at water and wastewater treatment facilities.
National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Formula Program
The National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (NEVI) Formula Program is a federal funding opportunity provided to States to strategically deploy electric vehicle infrastructure and establish an interconnected network to facilitate data collection, access, and reliability.
Home Energy Rebates
The Home Energy Rebates program offer rebates to help households save money on energy bills, improve energy efficiency, and reduce indoor and outdoor air pollution.
