Michigan State of the Great Lakes 2025 report

EGLE’s Office of the Great Lakes coordinates the development of and publishes the annual Michigan State of the Great Lakes Report to the state Legislature on behalf of the governor.

The statutory report is a collection of articles highlighting the year’s projects, accomplishments, and priority issues and initiatives related to the health and sustainability of the world’s greatest surface freshwater system, including the four Great Lakes that border Michigan. 

Latest report

This year’s report highlights activities affecting numerous communities and every Great Lake bordering Michigan. It addresses topics including environmental cleanup, waterfront restoration and revitalization, invasive species, Michigan’s flora and fauna, and growing Michigan’s blue economy.
