EGLE's interactive calendar is designed to provide timely information on decisions before the Director, proposed settlements of contested cases, administrative rules promulgation, public hearings, meetings and comment deadlines, and environmental conferences, workshops and training programs.
The Michigan Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) provides all persons (except persons incarcerated in correctional facilities) with access to public records of public bodies. Requests to inspect or receive public records from EGLE must be in writing and describe the requested records with enough detail to enable the department to identify and locate the requested records. Some records are exempt from disclosure under the FOIA or another statute and thus will not be provided. A fee may be charged to process your request. Please note that many records are available that do not require a formal FOIA request.

A Public Notice is required to be issued for all Joint Permit Applications (JPA) that involve Wetlands, Inland Lakes and Streams, Great Lakes Bottomlands, and Dams that do not meet Minor Project and General Permit Category criteria. When submitting a JPA that is required to be public noticed, the names and mailing addresses for all adjacent property owners impacted by the project must be provided.
A Public Notice includes: 1) A summary of the proposed project, 2) A copy of the permit application, 3) Location information, and 4) Drawings of the proposed construction activities.
Public Notice Distribution
EGLE's Water Resources Division (WRD) posts approximately 1,000 Public Notices each year. To increase efficiency and reduce the cost of Public Notice distribution, only Public Notice project summaries are sent by U.S. mail to the U.S Post Office for posting and to adjacent property owners. Public Notice information is posted and available for anyone interested in further review in MiEnviro, our web-based permitting and compliance database. Anyone may request a paper copy of a Public Notice to be mailed by calling the WRD district office. Any Public Notice is also available for viewing at the WRD district office assigned to the file.
