Overview:
Participants in this class learn adaptations to increase independence and confidence in employability related skills. Training focuses on one’s physical capacities, interests, academic and work abilities. Participants also will build new OT related skills to continue life-long work and individual interests through management of projects and participation in community resources. Participants may remain in this class throughout their stay at the Training Center.
Overall Goal of Occupational Therapy:
- Understanding one’s own physical capacities for employment
- Demonstrate proficiency in using appropriate adaptive devices
- Managing tools and technologies to produce academic work
- Establish and develop proper means of organization and labeling of work tasks
- Demonstrate work ethic and productivity during work production
- Develop a toolbox of blindness techniques and adaptations available for work related tasks
