Why is Credential Transparency Important to Michigan?
Job seekers, students and employees have more options than ever to help them get ahead through degrees, licenses, badges and registered apprenticeships – but there has never been an efficient, maintained or widely-understood method to collect, search and compare credentials. With almost 1 million confirmed credentials in the U.S. alone, this lack of information contributes to confusion and uninformed decision making.
The information submitted to the Credential Registry will be added to data presented by state information systems, helping users make better education and training connections to credentials and then better credential connections to employment. It will also assist Michiganders with mapping career pathways.
LEO-E&T will integrate the Credential Registry data into its different websites and systems such as the career and education exploration tool (Pathfinder), the eligible training provider list (ETPL), Michigan Training Connect (MiTC) and the state’s labor exchange system (Pure Michigan Talent Connect).
