2022-23 Michigan Teacher of the Year Nanette Hanson featured in latest #proudMIeducator video

LANSING – Michigan Teacher of the Year Nanette Hanson believes that if you lift and support students in a way that is positive, then the students will believe that they have the potential to grow and do great things.

The Michigan Department of Education (MDE) is pleased to announce the release of the latest #proudMIeducator video, featuring Nanette Hanson, the 2022-23 Region 1 and Michigan Teacher of the Year. Ms. Hanson is a first-grade educator at Lemmer Elementary School in the Upper Peninsula’s Escanaba Area Public School District.

“The #proudMIeducator campaign is one way we honor the hard work of passionate educators, such as Nanette Hanson,” said State Superintendent Dr. Michael Rice. “We hope that her experiences and reflections will help others understand the importance of building community in our classrooms and schools and will motivate people to consider a career in education.”
