Certificate Application Fee Reimbursement
The Michigan Department of Education is now reimbursing eligible educators for certificate application fees for educators renewing their certificates that are set to expire for the first time; this opportunity also applies to educators adding additional teaching endorsements. There is no need to apply for this opportunity. We will process reimbursements in the order in which certificates are issued after successful application in the Michigan Online Educator Certification System (MOECS). Reimbursements are available for renewals that occur after October 1, 2023 on a first-come, first-service basis until funds run out or September 13, 2024, whichever occurs earlier.
The following educators renewing their certificate for the first time qualify for this reimbursement:
- First-time renewal of a Standard Certificate
- Educators moving from an Interim Certificate to a Standard Certificate
- Educators who have never renewed their Standard and are progressing to a Professional Certificate
- Educators who were first certified out of state and whose first Michigan certification was a Professional, and this is their first time renewing
Educators are also eligible if they have added an additional endorsement:
- Held an Interim and added the endorsement to their existing teaching certificate
- Added to their Standard Teaching Certificate
- Added to their Professional Teaching Certificate
- Added to their Advanced Professional Teaching Certificate
