MiEdWorkforce: Educator Credentialing

What is MiEdWorkforce?

The Michigan Department of Education (MDE) and Center for Educational Performance and Information (CEPI) are developing MiEdWorkforce to combine the functions of MDE’s Michigan Online Educator Certification System (MOECS) and CEPI’s Registry of Educational Personnel (REP) into one data system, reducing reporting burdens and improving data transparency.

What will MiEdWorkforce offer?

Efficiencies created by MiEdWorkforce will benefit Michigan’s education ecosystem, including individual educators; schools and districts; colleges, universities, and alternative route providers; education researchers; and more.

  • Individual educators will have easy access to their employment records, professional development data, and credentials.
  • Schools and districts will experience a reduced reporting burden because of common data standards.
  • Colleges, universities, and alternative route providers will see improved worklists, reports, and tracking.
  • Education researchers will gain a better understanding of educator workforce needs as a result of more nuanced school employment and position reporting capabilities.

When will MiEdWorkforce be available?

MDE and CEPI anticipate launching MiEdWorkforce in Summer 2027. The following are major project milestones leading to the launch of MiEdWorkforce.

« August 2025 – October 2025 | Vendor onboarding

« October 2025 – January 2027 | System development

« February 2027 – July 2027 | Testing and training
