  • Audio-Video Analysis Unit (AVAU)

    Forensic audio-video analysis is the scientific examination, evaluation, and comparison of audio-video in legal matters. The AVAU assists criminal justice agencies throughout Michigan by providing exceptional digital examination, expertise, and investigative support. 

  • Forensic Art Unit (FAU)

    The Forensic Art Unit is a team of trained forensic artists who provide their talents in art to assist law enforcement with solving crime. The artists are specially trained in the areas of composite sketches, age-progression, image modification, demonstrative evidence, postmortem sketches, and facial reconstructions from the skull.

  • Photo Lab Unit

    The Photo Lab Unit encompasses the Michigan State Police in house photographic services, as well as the Digital Crime Scene Repository.  
  • Statewide Network of Agency Photos (SNAP) Unit

    Members of the SNAP Unit are trained facial examiners who can assist local, state, and federal agencies with facial recognition requests, digitally compliant photo lineups, and training needs associated with biometric tools available within the SNAP system.
