Michigan Severe Storms, Tornadoes, and Flooding
Michigan Severe Storms, Tornadoes, and Flooding
On February 8, 2024 President Joseph R. Biden, Jr. declared that a major disaster exists in the State of Michigan and ordered Federal assistance to supplement state and local recovery efforts in the areas affected by severe storms, tornadoes, and flooding from August 24 to August 26, 2023.
The President’s action makes Federal funding available to affected individuals in the counties of Eaton, Ingham, Ionia, Kent, Livingston, Macomb, Monroe, Oakland, and Wayne.
The funding is administered through the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s (FEMA) Individual Assistance (IA.) The assistance provides financial assistance and direct services to eligible individuals and households who have uninsured or underinsured necessary expenses and serious needs. FEMA IA can include grants for temporary housing and home repairs, low-cost loans to cover uninsured property losses, and other programs to help individuals and business owners recover from the effects of the disaster.
